LEE McAllister continued his recent run of impressive form by winning his latest fight in a professional manner. The Aberdeen Assassin took care of Karoly Lakatos at the Beach Ballroom in the third round in a bout that certainly won’t harm his European title chances.
He previously secured his place in the boxing history books when he became the first Scot to hold two Commonwealth titles at different weights simultaneously. He defeated Isaac Quartey to take the Commonwealth light-welterweight championship back in June.
Not in well over a century of professional boxing had any Scot claimed two Commonwealth or Empire belts, but Lee’s class shone through when he sealed a points victory over Quartey. Lee’s manager Tommy Gilmour is now out to secure a European title shot for the boxer with the plan to again hold it in the Granite City. The accomplished fighter has won many fans throughout Britain including First Minister Alex Salmond who is planning to attend one of his fights in the near future.
Lee is without question a boxer of real courage and determination and battled back from serious injury following a motorcycle accident in 2004 to reclaim his place among the best of Britain.
