LEE McAllister is relishing the opportunity to add another belt to his name next month.
The Aberdeen Assassin comes face to face with undefeated Russian Denis Shafikov at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on February 25 for a shot at the European light-welterweight title.McAllister will be looking to build on his last victory, a third round stoppage against Karoly Lakatos back in September.
The bout will be screened live on Sky Sports, with McAllister looking to stop the threat of Shafikov who has won 16 of his 27 victories by knock out. Despite McAllister going into the fight as underdog he believes a victory could lead to world title opportunities.
He said: “As soon as you have the European title, it's world title shots in America and things like that, big massive fights. Shirkov will come over and try to bulldoze me but he is in for a shock. I will be ready to knock him out. On paper it will be my hardest fight to date but I will prepare right and he will get sent back with his tail between his legs. But to be honest, I'm not really interested in him. I am quite happy to do my own thing and let him worry about me. He has no chance.”
